How You’ll Succeed As an Equity Research Analyst covering North American Real Estate companies, you are responsible for generating investment ideas and recommendations based on financial analysis and modeling, fundamental analysis (i.e.

company fundamentals, business risk profile, strategic outlook, and industry analysis), as well as ESG analysis.

You are also responsible for leading and producing several thematic reports throughout the year, hosting corporate presentations at our institutional investor conferences and other non-deal roadshows.

Client Focus – You will participate in quarterly and annual conference calls with senior managements from your coverage group, investors and analysts from competing firms to get direct data and market intelligence.

The position also provides the opportunity to liaise with our Sales, Trading, Investment Banking colleagues and clients as required.

Who You Are Write reports that contain a reasonable basis from which an institutional investor can make an informed decision; this can entail clarifying and highlighting the rationale for estimate changes, ratings changes, risk assessment and price target changes.

Review all published and presentation products for quality and competitive position.

In addition to providing trading ideas, develop relationships with colleagues on the Sales and Trading Desks – Canada, US and UK.

Effective member of the Real Estate team which includes; key participant in the recruiting, hiring, mentoring and coverage guidance as appropriate.

Ensure to use the appropriate chaperone channel when communicating with Investment Banking.

Client relationship (i.e.

marketing visits, calls, effective client communication, etc.) is a key requirement to meet coverage and survey ranking goals; monthly, quarterly and annual
– this must be a priority.

Education.

Academic credentials, along with an MBA, CPA, CA, and or CFA experience.

Background in accounting and finance is also an asset.

Work Experience.

Expert knowledge of the Real Estate sector as evidenced by work experience in the industry, buy or sell-side experience Technical Skills.

Proficient in PC applications (i.e.

Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) Collaborative.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with internal and external clients.

Analytical and quantitative skills.

Ability to complete and explain detailed financial and statistical analysis.

Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.

Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented environment with a strong attention to detail.
