This is a Full-time position in Saint-Paul-Dabbotsford, QC posted April 23, 2021.

We are growing our finance team and are seeking a full-time assistant controller to join our team.

Our family owned group of companies is currently based in Abbotsford, BC and has operations in several different industries, including agriculture and real estate investing.

Operating companies include the following: Greenhouse Delight Foods Inc.

and Merom Farms Ltd.

– Respectively, has been providing grading, packing, sales and shipping services for local growers of bell peppers for over 10 years, and has been growing 36 acres of sweet bell peppers in greenhouses for over 15 years.

Rev Investments Inc.

– Has been investing and financing in real estate projects throughout British Columbia for over 8 years.

Includes majority ownership in a group that owns and operates a luxury hotel on Vancouver Island.

The primary focus of this role is to oversee the day to day financial operations and reporting of multiple entities and work with the CFO on various other projects as they come up.

Our support and finance team for our company is small so we appreciate individuals that are prepared to wear multiple hats and lend a hand when needed.

We are looking for a self-motivated, adaptable, sociable, and ethical leader, who can collaborate with our team to identify gaps, implement new processes and enhance our team.

Confidentiality, organizational skills, and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as the ability to communicate clearly.

KEY RESONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will: Review and analyse monthly statements for various companies; up to 22 entities with varying levels of operations, including in some cases reviewing and reporting on variances from budgets.

Compile monthly reporting packages, Develop and prepare annual budgets, Preparing and develop additional internal reports for analysing financial aspects and providing fiscal insight to various entities and projects, i.E.

snapshot and customer profitability reports, Assist in managing the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of AP, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, AR, payroll, fixed asset records, and general & entity accounting, etc., Assist with compiling information for any due diligence or valuation requirements, Review and enhance business processes and accounting policies to improve efficiency and maintain internal controls, Assist in setting priorities for the department, Provide support to accounting team in relation to resolution of A/R issues and investigating areas of concern, AR collections, Assist in interface with outside accountants, banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), Provide human resource support and coordinate management of benefits programs, Assist with the financial record keeping for select companies, and Prepare additional partner reporting, when and if applicable, QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered for this position you must meet the following minimum requirements: Complete understanding and experience with the full accounting cycle 3-5 years of accounting experience in public accounting firm and/or industry including exposure to financial statement preparation and disclosure Corporate tax experience is an asset CPA designation or equivalent education and experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially excel Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities Strong verbal and written communication skills Detail oriented with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks; able to adapt quickly to changing needs, responsibilities, and tasks
