Senior Director, Financial Planning and Analysis

JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Director will collaborate with key members of D2L’s senior leadership team to develop financial strategies that enable execution and performance against corporate objectives.

They will be responsible for driving a data driven approach that enables financially informed decision making across the organization.

They will be responsible for leadership of the FP&A team, including the business partnering function, and driving predictable and accurate long-term planning, annual budgeting, and forecasting of the business.

In addition, they will have oversight over reporting and analysis on the performance of the business in support of both internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a deep financial background in financial and general business analysis, preferably with a public and global company, and demonstrated experience leading teams, influencing across boundaries, and collaborating with various functions.

HOW WILL I MAKE AN IMPACT?

Business Advice and Partnership Partner with CFO & Senior Leadership Team to provide strategic direction and financial leadership to the organization through developing and enhancing financial and operational strategies Understand the company’s visions and strategies, and play an active role in the identification, assessment and execution of growth opportunities Champion of the operating & budget planning process including integration with go-to-market, product and corporate strategy planning processes.

Develop and present insights and recommendations to the business connecting key operating activities with financial performance Assist senior leaders in establishing, tracking and analyzing financial KPI’s in pursuit of company objectives Develop a team of trusted business partners to support business units, and align functional goals to broader global initiatives.

Directly support CFO with preparation, presentation and delivery of board content Develop a culture of business engagement: Integration of finance into the business; attend team meetings / understanding of the business Tailored, effective presentations, analysis and dialogue with business partners Dialogue around budget and spend to optimize budget and investments; return-on-investment discipline Timely, meaningful, robust business insight to help manage the business and enable management decision making People Management: Attract, recruit and train top talent into the Finance organization Mentor, develop and manage a team of high performing finance talent by creating a center of excellence and instilling best practices across the Finance organization Influence, motivate and collaborate with key business partners and stakeholders Role model business partnering behaviours Provide active leadership to the Finance organization, developing and championing change processes, people and systems Financial Management: Guide decision making through monitoring financial performance, measuring and analyzing key metrics, and planning against annual and long-term operating targets Oversight over annual budget and operating plan process and related forecasting and management reporting Interpret and present key findings for senior leadership Understand business drivers and recommend measures to further improve results Establish and oversee efficient process for monthly and quarterly performance reporting for optimal result Oversees preparation of various financial and business analysis to provide senior leadership with relevant and robust insight that will enable business decisions Project Management: Champion ad-hoc initiatives to further improve the overall performance of the team and organization Decision support to business leaders on investment / project decisions Provide thought leadership and guidance over core processes
