Senior Manager, Financial Shared Services

As the Senior Manager, Financial Shared Services at the BURNCO Corporate Head Office in Calgary, Alberta you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management, and delivery of results for the BURNCO Shared Services organization with a primary focus on implementing and executing standards and processes for the Order to Cash, Transactional Accounting, and Accounts Payable functions. The Senior Manager, Financial Shared Services will also play a crucial role in identifying and implementing process solutions in concert with the BURNCO Transformation Office.  Additionally, ensuring an appropriate control environment, adherence to BURNCO policies and oversight of various cash flow results, while driving operational efficiency across all responsible areas through ongoing leadership and functional oversight.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Support management teams for Order to Invoice, Credit and Collection, Accounting Services, and Accounts Payable areas relating to department goals and performance, resource requirements, and day to day activities
  • Engage with leadership, customers, and vendors, when defining expected outcomes, dealing with problem identification, resolution, and corrective action
  • Continually evaluate ways to improve process effectiveness and efficiency in partnership with the BURNCO Transformation Office, while maintaining anticipated results
  • Provide subject matter expertise on business requirement definition, process design, implementation of processes and organizational change and timing of impacted processes across all work teams
  • Assist in the development of work plans, approaches, and mobilization efforts for each initiative work stream
  • Ensure compliance with all ASPE and internal accounting policies and procedures required to produce accurate financial results impacted by work teams
  • Deliver operational leadership while supporting corporate business plans, related objectives, and maintaining budget requirements
  • Establish and monitor daily productivity and processing metrics used to manage workload while meeting internal and external operational results, KPIs, and SLA requirements
  • Generate input relating to working capital forecasts and recapping outcomes and variances
  • Encourage the development of staff, nurturing continued innovative thinking, process improvement, and self-development

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE FROM YOU

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Business Administration/Commerce, Finance, Accounting or related discipline
  • CPA designation in good standing considered a strong asset
  • Minimum 10 years of significant, progressive responsibilities within related functional areas managing teams and departments in a global, shared service business environment
  • Experience in setting up and providing services in a shared service environment, working with both local and global resource location to obtain desired outcomes
  • Experience in creating and interpreting performance result metrics, KPIs, and SLAs in a shared service environment
  • Experience in developing and leading project teams focused on process alignment and improvement
  • Familiar with interacting with key business unit personnel and dealing directly with stakeholders

Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and delegation skills with an ability to effectively engage with BURNCO staff at all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey information in a timely and effective manner
  • Strong leadership abilities in managing and developing staff demonstrated through clear goal setting, fostering accountability, and ownership
  • Proven ability in handling external customers and vendors relating to expectation interpretation and problem resolution
  • Proficient understanding in creating and interpreting metrics representing department performance, benchmarking goals, and comparative outcomes
  • Ability to transform strategic goals into tactical project plans, including ability to track within defined timelines
