The Canadian Community Economic Development Network (CCEDNet) is inviting applications for the position of Finance Manager, supporting the work of CCEDNet’s Director of Finance and Administrative Coordinator.The ideal candidate will have strong skills in bookkeeping, accounting and HR-related financial administration, and related experience that could contribute to developing stronger internal financial information sharing systems across the organization.About CCEDNetThe Canadian CED Network (CCEDNet) is a values-based, non-profit organization committed to strengthening the social, economic, and environmental conditions of Canadian communities.We have several hundred members throughout Canada working at the grassroots level in rural, urban, Indigenous and northern communities.

CCEDNet engages a broad and inclusive range of community interests in common efforts to influence policy, create stronger and fairer local economies, tackle poverty and homelessness, and invest in sustainable communities.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Director of Finance, and working closely with the Administrative Coordinator, the Finance Manager will, for all legal entities managed by CCEDNet:Supervise regular bookkeeping activities and ensure CCEDNet accounts are maintained in the designated accounting softwareControl and approve accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that all transactions are properly codedControl and approve payrollDevelop and implement systems, processes and procedures to streamline bookkeeping and financial information flow throughout the organization, while ensuring appropriate controls and segregation of dutiesEnsure all monies are deposited correctlyEnsure compliance with government regulationsVerify monthly conciliationsSupport the preparation of year-end audit materials and liaise with auditors for the annual auditLiaise with insurance provider to ensure insurance coverage is up to date.Review group benefits coverage and costs for proper expense allocationReview and approve employment contracts.Monitor and verify staff leave allotments and useAny other related financial or administrative tasks as requiredEssential QualificationsPost-secondary degree in accounting, financial management or at least five years equivalent experienceFamiliarity with non-profit reporting and project management, and systems for efficient reporting and information sharing across remote teams.Mastery of the full accounting cycle, with excellent analysis and understanding of accounting operationsFamiliarity with QuickBooks online is an assetComfort with technology and ability to implement new software tools to streamline financial managementStrong organizational, administrative, and time management skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, especially email communicationsComfort working from home, using virtual meeting tools, but in a collaborative team settingComfort with using G-Suite (particularly Gmail, Google Calendar, and Drive), Microsoft Office and online file sharing platforms.Understanding of written and spoken English is essential; bilingualism (English /French) is an assetWorking ConditionsCCEDNet staff are working from home for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This role is situated with our administrative team, located in Victoriaville, Québec, but could be carried out remotely.
