Title: Manufacturing Support EngineerClient: Defence/AerospaceLocation: OttawaSecurity Clearance: NATO SecretWork Hours: Monday to Friday, full timeStart Date: asapEnd Date: 6 months contract, leading to permanencyOur client is a mid-sized company specializing in the design of mechanical and electronic solutions for both naval and aerospace platforms.

They design, develop and manufacture in house.

They are seeking a Manufacturing Support Engineer to bridge the gap between Product Design and Manufacturing.

From product definition drawings to production Work Orders, the Manufacturing Support Engineer formulates the manufacturing plan and creates the master paperwork.

This is a 6 month contract to start, leading to permanency.

Tasks and Responsibilities
·Work with Manufacturing, documenting work processes of existing product
·Develop Manufacturing Plan (make/buy, tooling/fixtures, serialization, sub-assembly structure)
·Develop Manufacturing Bill of Materials (different from the product definition drawings)
·Outline Operations detailing the specific operation to be carried out by various operators
·General process documentation and other related duties
·Influencing product definition during the design phase by considering the manufacturability of parts and assemblies, make/buy decisions and tooling/fixture strategies.

·Develop overall Manufacturing Plans and make simple changes to ERP Engineering Masters including the manufacturing BoM
·Provide guidance and direction to assigned shop resources in prototype build situations.

·Update general process documents and instructions
·Generate tooling design inputs and do detailed tooling design using SolidWorks CAD Skills and Experience Requirements
·A degree in Mechanical Engineering
·At minimum 4 years experience in engineering support
·Experience with SolidWorks, tooling, fixtures and sheet metal
·Well organized, conscientious, self-starter, takes ownership of tasks
·Hands on fabrication knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment
·Ability to obtain a NATO Secret clearance, and a Controlled Goods Clearance.
