Our client is seeking an Electrical Design Engineering Manager to join their team.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, 10+ years’ experience in industrial and/or facility engineering and a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Ontario.

Responsibilities:Preparation of quality reports and calculation packages as project deliverables.Interfacing with other disciplines and project management to execute the project as per plan.Ensure designs are cost effective and meet required performance objectives through.Completion of fit-for-purpose designs that meet the client’s needs and requests.Work with supervising engineers and designers on various projects collaboratively to complete design drawings with appropriate level of detail.Technical experience in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset: Electrical infrastructure and power distribution (up to 25kV systems), System engineering (process control and instrumentation design), Lighting design and modelling.Communication system engineering (Fibre optic, Ethernet, Radio, etc.).Assures quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities.Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposesPerform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications.Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.Perform assessments for clients to identify potential energy saving projects and assist preparing business cases for investment in energy efficiency.Review and check all assigned project electrical installation drawings for compliance with all company and project instructions (One-line diagrams, electrical equipment location drawings, plan drawings, details, schematics, wiring diagrams, etc.) including vendor technical submittals for installation requirements.Confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.Prepare electrical calculations in accordance with the relevant Canadian, American and International Standards.Prepare proposals and estimate of man hour budgets.Provide day to day electrical support for ongoing field operations, required to conduct field checks.Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.

Qualifications/Aptitude:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering10+ years’ experience in industrial and/or facility engineeringProfessional Engineer (P.

Eng) designation in Ontario requiredRegistered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Michigan considered an assetExperience performing design in a manufacturing/industrial environment.

Preferably in distribution and automationProficiency with/exposure to; Power modeling software(ETAP, EasyPower, and/or SKM), Design/drafting capability would be considered an asset (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit), Lighting system software utilization.Demonstrated knowledge of relevant electrical codes, safety and environmental legislation and regulationsAdvanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Software including Project requiredExperience with the design and engineering analysis of complex electrical systems and issuesExperience creating Bid documents, focusing on scope creationSome controls work experience (PLC, HMI)Highly motivated, with superb interpersonal and leadership skillsExcellent communication skills both written and verbal, the ability to speak multiple languages is considered an assetInterest in acquiring experience completing equipment inspections on-site (client, vendor, etc.) and to assess electrical and communication infrastructure.Work experience designing HV substations, hydroelectric plants, MV and LV distribution systems, and large electrical systems requiredWork experience with fire alarms, lighting and emergency power generation preferredAble to apply right mathematical methods and formulas to problem solvingHigh level of sound and independent judgment and reasoningDemonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measuresEffective leadership skills requiredLEED Accreditation would also be considered an assetWillingness to travel both domestically and internationallyMUST be eligible to apply for a TN to work in the US
