Glencore: Senior Corporate Project Engineer – Mechanical Infrastructure

We are currently seeking a project engineer to join a growing infrastructure services group that supports the study and development of physical infrastructure projects across Glencore Zinc.The infrastructure portfolio includes a diverse range of projects that support active and future mining operations including:
·tailings storage and management,
·underground mine backfill supply and distribution,
·mine site water management,
·material handling,
·power supply and distribution,
·mine access,
·mine ventilation and heating,
·mine site closure and reclamation, and
·development of other supporting facilities and structures.The ideal candidate can strive as a generalist and deliver a diverse set of multi-disciplinary projects while managing projects and consultants with differing subject matter expertise.

Specific subject matter knowledge of mechanical and electrical mine infrastructure pertaining to power supply & site distribution, pumpand pipeline systems, backfill plants, and/or material conveyance will be considered an asset.

Key responsibilities:
·Project management of multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects that support mining operations
·Development of requests for proposal (RFP) packages, and participation in tender evaluation and contract award
·Direct participation in engineering studies (Concept, PFS, FS) including undertaking design trade-off studies to optimize and increase overall project value and outcomes.
·Identifying project risks and potential mitigation options
·Cost estimation, financial analysis and participation in project evaluations for the purpose of investment
·Management of external consultants and coordination of information between internal and external stakeholders
·Preparation of project execution plans, and project schedules
·Meeting and communication with project teams and site management
·Site visits to operating mines and remote project sites
·Review of project deliverables including design reporting, technical memorandums, design drawings, formal requests for information, meeting minutes, summary presentations, invoicing, cost estimates, project schedules, financial modelling, and more.What you offer:
·Strong understanding of the mining sector and various levels of mining project studies (PEA / Concept / PFS / FS)
·Experience working in a multi-disciplinary setting
·Experience working on multiple projects concurrently with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
·Critical thinking capabilities with a problem solving mind-set and the ability to translate complex ideas and potential mitigations into workable solutions for project advancement
·Strong technical and planning background with exposure to project management / coordination/ controls
·Experience developing and tracking project schedules and critical path analysis
·Highly computer literate in Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint), familiarity with CAD programs, and experience and/or willingness to learn other software packages relevant to the position and organization.
·Familiar with cost estimation, scheduling, and basic financial analysis
·Strategic thinking capabilities with the ability to understand and foresee implications of how various infrastructure decisions will interact with longer-term mining operations and other site infrastructure.
·Excellent communication skills both written and oral with second language capabilities considered an asset
·Demonstrated technical skills and, ideally, with appropriate educational credentials.

A professional designation would be an asset.The ideal candidate…Passionate about growing a career in the mining industry University degree in engineering (preferably in civil, mechanical, construction, or industrial engineering) with relevant professional experience in the mining sector6-10 years experience working in a projects and progressive engineering studies setting within the mining sectorProven experience in project development, management and/or coordinationHas experience on the owner and/or consulting side of projects.

Has excellent communication skills and can work well in a dynamic environment.Proven capability to excel as a generalist in a multi-disciplinary environment and capability to communicate and coordinate with various subject matter experts.Sound understanding of cost estimation, project scheduling, and risk assessmentsSelf-driven with the ability and to identify, foresee, and plan work to meet project and organizational objectivesAbility to set priorities and deliver results in situations with significant ambiguity.Willingness and ability to travel internationally and work with different time zones.
