Mechanical Engineering Manager

This is a Contract position in Vancouver, BC posted September 20, 2022.

The Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for his/her team in the creation, review and management of all technical documentation for aero-mechanical and /or electro-mechanical systems for new and established products.

He/she provides insight and strategy based on experience and education.

The Mechanical Engineering Manager keeps focus on timely production readiness by coordination with other departments, including Production.

Responsibilities:
· Oversee all aspects of mechanical design;
· Initiate and develop creative and innovative products;
· Create and implement best practices regarding vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve mechanical engineering;
· Plan and prioritize processes to ensure resources alignment to support production, enabling on-time deliveries.

Resource management includes workload monitoring, technical monitoring, performance reviews, encouraging continuous learning and skill development;
· Coordinate with production to ensure on-time and on-budget manufacturability of product while complying with safety and environmental standards;
· Evaluate technical challenges and take action to mitigate risks and development opportunities;
· Prepare technical and contractual documentation providing technical support to business development.

This includes supporting bids and proposals with preliminary design concepts, level of analysis and schedule development;
· Report development activities to relevant stakeholders/projects on a regular basis, including process KPIs;
· Manage configuration management process, including impacts as part of the engineering change order process;
· Prepare technical drawings, work instructions and bill of materials in accordance with industry standards and best practices;
· Support production activities by maintaining the product data in the ERP system;
· Provide documentation support for on-going projects and other organizational activities (proposals, plans, reports, etc.); Preferred Education and Experience:
· 7 years of relevant engineering experience;
· Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering;
· 5 years of demonstrated experience using CAD / SolidWorks tools;
· 3 years or people management experience or relevant leadership experience;
· Experience taking complex projects from initial concept through final launch;
· In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing;
· Proven experience in aero-mechanical /electro-mechanical design projects preferred; Skills:
· Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements including underlying feature requests and recommend alternative technical and business approaches;
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
· Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment;
· Excellent attention to technical detail and thoroughness is critical;
· Proven experience in aero-mechanical /electro-mechanical design projects preferred;
· Demonstrated experience working in ISO9001 and AS9012 environments preferred Schedule : 8 hour shift COVID-19 considerations : As per provincial guidelines.

Education : Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) Salary Range : $70-85k Only qualified candidates who meet all of the clients requirements will be contacted for interviews.
