Health, Safety, Security, Environement (SSSE) Coordinator


This is a Full-time position in Ajax, ON posted April 5, 2021.

The Coordinator will be deployed in our different terminals in Ontario.

The HSSE Coordinator is responsible for the deployment, implementation and monitoring of activities, programs and procedures related to health and safety at work, emergency measures and environmental protection within the operational sites to which he is attached.

Working closely with the management team at the terminals as well as with the members of the HSSE corporate team, the Coordinator ensures the adoption of the best practices leading to the achievement of health and safety and sustainable development objectives.

He participates in local health and safety committees and supports operational groups at the terminals.

He coordinates the implementation and deployment of the Emergency Measures Plan and also acts as a trainer for operations staff and managers in the deployment of HSSE training.

Finally, he is actively involved in continuous improvement projects related to HSSE.

TO SUPPORT OPERATIONS DAILY, YOU WILL HAVE TO : Conduct HSSE compliance audits; Provide support to operational teams to facilitate the application of HSSS standards, programs and procedures; Support the development of safe work practices and their deployment; Support local teams in conducting field investigations in the event of an HSSE accident or incident; Collaborate on the establishment of action plans per site to correct problems, reduce risks, meet objectives and compliance standards; Assist site managers in the development and implementation of action plans; Participate, with corporate HSSE staff, in the development of HSSE programs and procedures; Support the preparation of joint committee meetings and follow up on agreed actions; Accompany local staff in implementing HSSE activities, programs and procedures.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED : College or university degree in a related field (industrial hygiene, industrial engineering, etc.) 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in setting up HSSE processes and programs, ideally in manufacturing, marine or materials handling Communication skills, both orally and in writing Strong teamwork skills Client orientation Knowledge of applicable laws, standards and regulations related to health and safety, security and the environment Ability to use software specific to his area of expertise Availability for trips to other terminals
