Our 60+ Endocrinologists, many of whom are nationally renowned for their areas of expertise, are supported by an interdisciplinary team of highly qualified Medical Office Administrators, Medical Assistants, Registered Nurses, Registered Dietitians, Physician Assistants, Pharmacists, Optometrists, Opticians, Optical Assistants, Chiropodists and Clinical Research Professionals.Currently, our team is looking for a Medical Assistant/Medical Office Administrator for our LMC Ottawa clinic who can work for us on a temporary full-time (12 month) basis.Responsibilities Includebut are not limited to:Medical Assistant:Coordinating the flow of patients in the examination and treatment areas to ensure efficient use of the facility and the Physician’s schedule Ensuring proper documentation (i.E.

patient information and forms are accurate in patient chart) and when necessary liaising with medical laboratories and/or Physician offices for appropriate patient documentation Preparing patient for physician evaluation, including but not limited to, measuring vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height, weight, and BMI and record information on patient’s chart appropriately Collecting patient medical and social history Reviewing medication list for accuracy and completionPromotion of comprehensive, coordinated care for the patient.

(Relating to the entire LMC care team of endocrinologists along with diabetes educators, pharmacists, chiropodists, optometrists, researchers and health coaches).

Preparing examination rooms with necessary medical suppliesDownloading various glucose meters, continuous glucose monitors and/or insulin pumpsDownloading of investigations via electronic software DSQ, OLIS, Netcare etc.Medical Office Administrator:Checking in patients (reception/registration) and checking out patients (scheduling follow ups)Adhere to LMC’s Administrative Policy Manual and Care PromiseManagement of all patient appointments appropriately and providers schedules as per our SOPCompleting all daily tasks such asProviders tasks and assignmentsHandle all external referrals to other specialists, diagnostic bookings and other tests for all providers.Liaising with medical laboratories/physician offices for appropriate patient documentationCo-ordinate patient visits along their care path, especially across LMC’s multidisciplinary services: Chiropody, DEP, Optometry, Pharmacy and ResearchRespond to all patient inquiries by emailResponding to all telephone inquires and retrieving and returning messagesHandling incoming and outgoing mail, faxes and shipments (site specific)Process patients accounts receivable and payable (credit card, debit, cheque & cash payments) when requiredOrdering office and medical supplies, when requiredComplete third party forms & letters when requiredCoverage for other administrators as requiredOther administrative duties as assignedRequirementspreferred, but not limited to:2-4 years of Medical Office Experience and/or Medical Office Assistant DiplomaPrevious Personal Support Worker or Medical Laboratory experience is considered an assetPrevious experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) or nurse is considered an assetProficient knowledge of Electronic Medical Records system (knowledge of Accuro is considered an asset)Sound knowledge of medical terminologyPrevious experience as a medical assistant and/or proficiency in measuring various vitals signs such as manual blood pressure, pulse will be considered an assetGood interpersonal and customer service skills with the goal of helping patients access services to improve their healthAbility to multi task and prioritize in a fast paced environmentSuperior time management skillsExcellent attention to detail is requiredGood communication skills (both verbal and written)Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)LMC provides seven industry-leading programs:Endocrinology Specialist Practice (publicly-funded) representing the largest group of Endocrinologists globallyNationally-accredited Diabetes Education Program (publicly-funded)Diabetes PharmacyChiropody & Foot Specialist CareOptometry & Eye Specialist CareCanada’s largest Clinical Research network specializing in Diabetes innovationsVirtual Health Coaching (diabetes prevention, type 2 diabetes management)Why LMC might be right for you!2016 Certified Best Workplace™2014 and 2015 Canada’s Best Workplaces™Competitive SalaryComprehensive Health BenefitsInclusive Employee Assistance ProgramRRSP contribution matchingEducation allowance (days and funding)Ongoing career training and developmentEmployee Appreciation Days OffAdditional Holiday ClosureOpportunities to work with internationally renowned EndocrinologistsState of the art Electronic Medical Records (EMR) environmentLMC Healthcare is an organization committed to ensuring accessible services and communications to individuals with disabilities.
