Ask us about our current job incentive program!General Description:The purpose of this role is to support computer vision, software development and data analytics for Engineering departments – with a special focus on R& D.

This is a hands-on position that involves the design and implementation of algorithms to control, operate and calibrate imaging devices (2-D, 3-D and thermal cameras), as well as the development of advanced image processing algorithms for object detection, classification, and recognition.

The Application Developer – Computer/Machine Vision will work closely with a very talented team of multi-disciplinary researchers and engineers on solutions for some of the most challenging automation applications in the automotive industry.

Preference will be for candidates with post graduate degrees (MASc or PhD).Job Responsibilities:Developing and testing production-ready codes in different languages; C++, Python and C# .Supporting software and hardware integration activities.Design and implement algorithms to control and calibrate industrial vision cameras and sensors.Developing and implementing communication protocols.Programing and testing graphical user interfaces and HMI’s.Developing high-quality computer vision algorithms for localization, object detection, classification, and recognition.Developing and testing computer vision algorithms (2D, 3D and thermal imaging).Collecting, cleaning, formatting various types of data.Training, validating, and testing Machine Learning models (e.G., image recognition applications).

Building, testing, and maintaining custom database systems.Establishing cloud-based storage system for selected applications.Supporting experiments and trials aimed at characterizing and tuning welding and automation processes.Supporting laboratory activities (equipment selection, installation, maintenance, calibration as well as R& D experiments).Maintain an organized, safe, and clean environment.Conducting scientific activities such as literature reviews, writing scholarly publications, writing invention disclosures, scientific reports, and proposals.Performing administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reportsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Applied science graduate degree in engineering from an accredited university (MASc or PhD in electrical or computer engineering is preferred).Solid knowledge and skills in computer science, data structures and computer vision.Previous experience working with SDK’s for industrial vision cameras.Experience with deep learning-based computer vision applications and platforms (TensorFlow and PyTorch).Good knowledge and skills in SQL and cloud systems (AWS and Azure).Previous experience working in an R& D project (preferably inthe automation industry).Good working knowledge of Project Management practices.Additional Comments:Travel outside Canada may be required to support installation activities.Powered by JazzHRAgi3UMKEdr
