The incumbent’s main focus is to design, implement, monitor maintain and troubleshoot systems and networks that are integral in the Telesat’s day to day operations.Main ResponsibilitiesMaintain & implement IT networks and infrastructureAnalyze and troubleshoot network problemsImplement and/or supervise the implementation of new networks and infrastructure with a focus on security best practicesCoordinate network upgrades and configuration changesMonitor and report on network performancePlan and coordinate and participate in assigned projectsProduct research and evaluationProvide level 2 support to the corporate helpdeskParticipate in group pager rotationManagement of authentication accounting and authorization platformsNetwork Traffic analysisVoice over IPEducation & Experience RequiredA Diploma or Degree in a relevant area of study with a preference for ComputerScience together with demonstrated operational network related experienceMinimum of 5 years in Information Technology (with a related University Degree)or minimum of eight years in Information Technology (with a three year college Diploma)Specialized Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesNetworking including HP (Comware 5 & 7), Cisco ASA & IOS, Aruba OS, Palo Alto, FortinetSecurity and Infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, cloud networking, endpoint protectionIPSec VPN, encryption and security protocolsCisco AnyConnect VPN, Palo Alto Global Protect VPNSolarwinds OrionCisco Cube and QOSNetwork architecture and design knowledgeDemonstrated experience in applying technical expertise in large complex data centers with a variety of physical infrastructure (from analog BIX to Fiber optics)Experience working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluationEffective interpersonal skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsIndustry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Voice, CISSP or equivalent are a strong assetOccasional off hour support may be requiredParticipation in group pager rotationAlthough limited, the employee must be able to travel to corporate facilitiesThe successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
