Handyman/Maintenance Technician

Tricycle Lane Ranches Ltd (TLR) has a tremendous opportunity for a full-time permanent Handyman / Maintenance Technician to be based from our new corporate offices near the airport in Calgary, Alberta. TLR is the 25-year-old Property Management and Land Acquisition business for its sister company BURNCO Rock Products Ltd (BURNCO), a 110-year-old construction materials business.

Are you a jack or jill of all trades that loves doing hands-on work? Are you a handy person skilled at fixing just about anything? Are you comfortable working in a professional and safety-conscious environment? We are looking to fill a Handyman / Maintenance Technician position that will help us maintain our properties.

As our new maintenance professional, you will use your positive attitude and wide range of experience daily towards internal and external building maintenance and upkeep. You will diagnose, respond, and handle a wide variety of possible issues inside our properties.

What You Will Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Diagnosing a wide variety of problems – heat that is not working, electrical plugs not
  • Diagnosing a wide variety of problems on our property, completing maintenance or repairs yourself, calling for appropriate services of skilled trades to effect repairs to such areas as roofing, siding / soffit / fascia, repairs to sidewalks, windows, landscaping, parking lots, doors, tile, carpet, sump pump failures, etc.
  • Efficient and timely painting skills
  • Interactions with building personnel in a courteous and professional manner
  • Installing and re-keying locks
  • Maintaining, cleaning, and overseeing seasonal tire changes of our light duty fleet vehicles
  • Arrange or assist with landscaping maintenance and parking lot/parkade cleaning as required
  • Coordinate snow and ice removal from walkways and parking lot, as required
  • Assist with preventative maintenance inspections and reporting
  • Assist in the management of cleaning and materials inventory
  • Following safety procedures
  • Performing other tasks and/or general labour as required


  • 40-hour work week
  • On call
  • Possible weekend availability


What We Would Like From You


  • Experience in building maintenance, construction, and general contracting are assets
  • Demonstrated abilities diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of maintenance-related issues
  • Professional, positive attitude
  • Good problem solving and written/verbal communication skills in English
  • Must be a motivated person, able to work efficiently and effectively – both independently and in a team environment
  • Be reliable, trustworthy, and physically able to perform the role
  • Comfortable and confident working within a professional environment and tight timelines


  • Facilities Maintenance Occupations: 1+ year (preferred)
  • Maintenance: 2 – 3 years (preferred)
  • A Class 5 Power Engineer ticket ABSA verified preferred
  • Previous experience as a Millwright would also be an attribute
  • Possess or be prepared to complete First Aid certification
  • Possess or be prepared to complete Fall Protection certification
  • Possess or be prepared to complete WHMIS certification
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid Driver’s License to travel between Calgary area properties as necessary

IMPORTANT: Applicant selected for hire will be required to provide a satisfactory Drivers Abstract as well as successfully complete a background check (which includes references & credential verifications, as well as a criminal record check, enhanced reliability security clearance, confidential security clearance), Drug & Alcohol, Fitness to Work test and be bondable.
