Our mill in Trenton, Ontario, which is located on the bank of the scenic Trent River, boasts a 93 year history.If you are an effective leader who builds on relationships to strengthen operational competencies, we are looking for you to join our team.

Job Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Chief Operating Engineer will oversee and ensure the safe and efficient operation of the steam plant and other related power plant services equipment in compliance with internal procedures and all applicable legislation, regulations, codes and standards.This role is responsible for managing the corporate risk management program at the plant level.Oversee operations team TSSA requirements, monitoring systems and ensure operating engineers are following guidelines Desired experience Grade 12 diploma with post-secondary education preferred1st Class Operating Engineer Certification3-5 years of related work experience, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment Technical competencies Effective leadership, communication and organizational skillsStrong analytical, troubleshooting and decision-making skillsThorough knowledge of the Technical Standards and Safety Act, Operating Engineers Regulation and the Occupational Health and Safety ActProficient in Microsoft Office applications, CMMS and SAPExperience with DCS preferredAbility to work overtime and be on-call as necessaryMust have or establish residence within 30 minutes of our mill Health & Safety Develop and maintain a healthy and safe work environment for all Cascades employeesHelp implement the OSH action planPromote sound occupational health and safety management Personally commit to and display strong leadership in health and safety Core competencies defined for this job *Health and safetyAccountabilityCoachingDecision-makingRigourTeam leadership#revealyourpotential Cascades believes in the success of an inclusive organization that values diversity within its team.
