Senior Reporting Business Analyst, Data, Analytics & Integration


This is a Full-time position in Airdrie, AB posted December 2, 2022.


BURNCO is looking for a disciplined and eager analyst to help strengthen our organizational data. Working within the Corporate Head Office team in Calgary, Alberta, the Senior Reporting Business Analyst, Data, Analytics & Integration is responsible for leading the Reporting workstream for the Data, Analytics and Integration department. The Senior Reporting Business analyst will be accountable for overall delivery of the Business Intelligence solutions – design and implement complex cross-functional reports, metrics and dashboards that provide operational insights to the business, technical teams and executive leadership.   • Deliver business intelligence solutions across the organization
  • Work with senior business stakeholders to understand the reporting & insight needs of various departments
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from multiple departments to prioritize the requirements and create & manage the product backlog
  • Define the features and user stories at the detailed level for all the metrics, reports and dashboards
  • Analyze the data and transform the data into insights
  • Create reports and dashboards using PowerBI
  • Work with the data platform, data engineering and Report developers to implement the reports and dashboards
  • Design and implement reporting solutions that are reliable, scalable and secure
  • Collaborate with the IT and business stakeholders to resolve the production incidents and implement enhancements in a timely manner


Experience & Knowledge

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, with 5 years in a leadership role with direct responsibility for delivering reporting solutions
  • Over 5 years of hands-on experience with reporting tools such as Tableau, Business Objects and Cognos
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with PowerBI
  • Strong understanding of the data warehouse concepts: ingestion, transformation, data modeling, and reporting
  • Experience in relational databases such as Oracle and SQL server and cloud-based databases
  • Experience in working with Snowflake database is an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of applications such as Apex, Onbase, and Command is an asset
  • Experience in assessing the work effort required for the Reporting projects and provide the accurate cost, resource and timeline estimates
  • Understanding of data protection and privacy regulations
  • Project management capabilities to deliver the Reporting projects, including: manage scope, timeline, resources, prioritize requirements, identify risks and create mitigation strategies, provide status update to key stakeholders and the leadership.


  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or a related discipline
  • Master’s degree in information technology, or business-related discipline is an asset


  • Ability to work with business stakeholders from diverse departments and understand the business needs
  • Ability to convert the business needs into detailed reporting requirements and specifications that can serve as inputs to the development teams
  • Excellent written and communication skills with very strong planning, scheduling, coordination and organizational capabilities
  • Set goals that are consistent with BURNCO’s plan and takes responsibility for achieving results
  • Share timely information within and across functions to get things done effectively
  • Demonstrate business, analytical and broad thinking when making timely decisions through strong judgment

  • Required documents and capability to legally travel locally as well as to US operations, meeting all national and international government conditions.
