This is a Contract position in Dieppe, NB posted June 29, 2021.

Your Opportunity: The successful candidate will be responsible for providing hemodialysis treatments to patients with renal failure at the Satellite Dialysis Unit located at the West Edmonton Kidney Care, a University of Alberta Hospital Community Facility (10560 Mayfield Road, Edmonton, AB).

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.

The incumbent performs a variety of nursing duties in accordance with clinical policies and nursing care standards.

Responsible for providing hemodialysis to patients with acute and/or chronic renal failure in the Satellite Hemodialysis Unit.

Description: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being.

In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.

You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.

You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Classification: Registered Nurse (2022.75) Union: United Nurses of Alberta Department: UA-Unit 5C2 Incentre-EDM Primary Location: U of A Hospital Multi-Site: At or Out of (UNA only) FTE: 0.40 Posting End Date: 25-JAN-2021 Employee Class: Regular Part Time Date Available: 15-FEB-2021 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 24 Shifts per cycle: 48 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $36.86 Maximum Salary: $48.37 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program.

Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA).

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
– Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum of one year recent nursing experience in an acute care setting.

Basic computer skills required.

Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational and patient care skills.

Ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner.

Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.

Successful candidate must be able to lift 40 lbs (18kg).

Please note: Must be available to take Hemodialysis orientation in Edmonton or Red Deer.

Orientation will take 6 weeks: 4 weeks on unit training and 2 weeks of buddy shifts (or equivalent hours); a passing mark of 80% on the final exam and satisfactory performance during clinical component is required to move on to buddy shifts.

Upon successful completion of the Hemodialysis training program, unit specific orientation shifts will be assigned by the hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with current hemodialysis experience.

Nephrology Certification is an asset.

Familiarity with NIS and AHS databases is an asset.

Knowledge of case management is an asset.
