Our mandate is to give back to those who served and continue to serve in our communities and country.Commissionaires together with the Fraser Valley Regional District, provides quality Animal Control/Bylaw Enforcement services throughout the Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Kent, Harrison Hot Springs, and Mission areas.

This service is run through the Chilliwack Community Animal Response and Education (C.A.R.E.) Centre.Whether it’s a lost, stray or impounded dog, our team works hard to provide a loving environment for all animals brought into our care.

We do much more than provide shelter – we engage with our animals, assist in finding them their forever-homes through pet adoption services, and go the extra mile in ensuring their health is optimized.

You thrive in an dynamic team orientated work environment You have high attention to detail Want to work as an animal ambassador in a thriving team Some of your responsibilities include:Contact dog owners to arrange for retrieval of their animals from the facility Follow up with all tattoo, microchip, ID tag and licenses for animals that come into the shelter Assign licenses to dog owners Responds to all incoming telephone calls in the appropriate manner Provide information on bylaws and procedures when required Educate and provide alternative solutions to the public that may fall outside the Chilliwack Animal Control umbrella Forward requests for service to the appropriate Animal Control Officer Organize resources and establish priorities for Animal Control Officers Direct calls and respond to inquiries Manage financial transactions.

Cash and/or credit card handling may be required.

Provide file information for reports to the Supervisor as requested.

Investigate alleged bylaw contraventions electronically and by phone Gather evidence to support bylaw infractions and maintain supporting documentation Written correspondence via Microsoft Office products.

Format, input, edit, retrieve, copy, and transmit correspondence, documents, and data.

Your Must-Haves:You have outstanding communication and customer service skills You have intermediate skills with MS Office You have reception experience with proven telephone skills You have an understanding of various dog behaviors and body language You are physically fit and are capable of lifting a minimum of 20 lbs Clean criminal record Your Nice-To-Haves:Bylaw and investigation certification (or a willingness to complete the course) You have a willingness to learn and communicate the City’s animal bylaws Powered by JazzHR1htP1in16H
