Position SummaryReporting jointly to the SVPs of Corporate Debt and Interim Business Financing, the candidate is responsible for supporting the investment team on problem loan management, credit restructuring and special situations in order to achieve financial and investor return objectives.

The candidate must be a motivated self-starter with extensive experience in loan restructuring and workouts within the Canadian small and mid-market business sector with a strong knowledge of insolvency processes.

Candidates must also have excellent negotiation and communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced team environment.Primary DutiesSupports the team in resolving non-performing loans to ensure maximum capital preservation for investorsResponsible for managing loan restructuring and workout processes, working closely with account management, senior management and the credit risk departmentDevelops, analyses and presents restructuring options and analysis to key stakeholdersProvides knowledge in identifying key risk factors in loan underwriting and provides guidance in negotiating credit agreements to maximize lender protectionsNegotiates with borrower management on covenant breaches, loan amendments and restructuring, ensuring investors’ interests are protected and return objectives are metLeverages an established network of contacts and referral sources to identify attractive investment opportunitiesTargets new partners and new markets by being the highly visible representative of Fiera Private Debt in the market to enhance the network of referral sources and prospects consistent with the desired objectivesWorks closely with fund management team to ensure adherence to investor reporting and audit requirements and provides guidance on investment valuationRepresents the firm at industry events Skills and experienceUndergraduate degree in business, finance or economics or MBATen (10) years and related experience in the Canadian debt market with a recent focus on special loan management or restructuring advisory as well as a strong background in credit evaluation, transaction structuring and documentation; Strong financial analysis skills including the preparation of cash flow forecasts and financial modeling; proficient in excel to develop business models in support of restructuringStrategic and entrepreneurial vision with creative problem-solving abilitiesStrong negotiation skillsStrong research and writing skillsStrong client-focus and inter-personal skillsAbility to prioritize and make decisions in a timely matterMulti-industry experience in the Canadian loan marketTravel requiredCFA and/or CPA, CA designation highly regarded; CIRP certification is an asset This position offersCompetitive compensation and benefitsOpportunities for professional developmentDynamic and pleasant work environmentExcellent brand and reputation in the marketplace and well positioned for growthThe masculine gender has been used with no discrimination intended but simply to make the text more readable and designate both women and men.
