The Manager, HSEC Program Improvement role is to lead the Assurance Program for the Zinc Department.The incumbent is responsible of leading and influencing a group of subject matter experts from various sites, cultures, & educational backgrounds, to a consensus on an innovative approach from basic level to best practice implementation.The Manager will lead the process at various levels including:Project ManagementLeading and influencing a group of subject matter experts from various sites, cultures, & educational backgrounds, to a consensus on an innovative approach from basic level to best practice implementation.Managing multimillion dollar projects, with various levels of implementation and coaching with a common, evaluated completion of all initiatives.Resolve conflicts and understand program shortcomings to offer solutions or escalate for corporate resolution.Coach and influence senior managers on the importance of project adoption and implementation.Lead subject matter expert and management education and show case sessions on benefits of program management.Research theoretical, experimental and proven strategies to support the project parameters.Consult leading experts to ensure strategies can be adapted to Zinc initiative.Communicating with multiple site contacts and services on a regular basis to make sure that everyone is in line, and that no other directions are implemented or elements of project dropped unexpectantly.Provide senior leaders with reports on progress, cost expectations/usage, and any delays.Ensure project is easily interpreted and translated into appropriate languages.Make site visits as necessary to observe good practice, set standards, or to understand process for project mandate.In some cases to see the challenges that some sites have culturally, environmentally or due to remoteness that may affect overall outcome.HSEC Management System Design, Implementation, Verification:Liaise with Corporate HSEC to analyse, interpret and redirect any modifications, creations or processes that change the current structure and ensure that the applications will fit the culture and complexity of the Zinc Department.Lead process to discuss and educate Senior Leadership on this change management and to explain the expectations of the new/revised process.To coach Senior Leaders on the roll out and how this impacts their assets and people.Working with the Assurance Manager, create/revise the verification process to ensure that expectations are being met, and understood.Intervene with education and awareness through the asset Senior Leader and escalating enforcement as necessary.Working with HSEC Governance ensure that packages for training are all inclusive of new material and able to be tracked electronically through the RMS system.To be an expert resource on interpretation of the management system able to provide examples as well as connect sites that are having difficulties with best practice locations.Lead and evaluate continuous improvement in this area.The ideal candidate … Undergraduate degree in Safety, Ergonomics, Engineering, Bioscience, etc.Master’s in Administration requiredCertifiedSafety Professional relevant to the country of application15 years’ experience in operational & strategic HS10years’ experience in management capacity of influencing and collaboratingWorked in a Unionized environmentExpert in Project ManagementProficient in various modes of computer softwareStrong leadership skills, expert in communicating and coaching at various levels.Certified and experiencedin Health & Safety AuditingThe Assurance Manager will be based out of Glencore office in Toronto or Montreal.

Travel to the Glencore operations will vary, but will be 50% on average
