The Coach will be responsible for leading a high-performing team responsible for monitoring and facilitating the movement of freight into the Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) and out to the stores.

The incumbent also examines delivery routes (transportation lanes) for cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies.

This person is responsible for maintaining good relations with carriers and respective stores serviced by those carriers and RDC.

The Coach resolves emergent issues and implements safety programs for the Transportation Department.The basic schedule of this position is Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5 pm but you must be available to be on call outside of these hoursYour role :Adhere to safety policies and procedures (cleanliness and orderliness, trailer integrity, load quality, job safety analysis to identify risks)Train, mentor, and support Transportation Coaches/Coordinators (weekday inbound, weekday outbound, weekend in and outbound) and Transportation team members; create training guides as neededWork as the Lowe’s Canada regional subject matter expert for all matters dealing with transportation initiatives or questions as requiredAssist in hiring employees capable of working in a team and multitasking in a fast-paced environmentSet expectations for team performance (good judgment in grey areas; common sense, customer service as “the face of Lowe’s Canada,” data entry and transportation documentation accuracy, leadership, initiative, quick decision-making, team player, ask questions and reach out to peers in network, driven)Cost recognition and containment: Monitor overall freight costs for the RDC and adjust where appropriate; identify transportationsavings by researching lane and cost savings; work with operations tomaximize cube per trailer to reduce transportation costsWork with carrier partners on lane rates and vendor pickupsUse the transportation management system(s) (TMS)Monitor outstanding freight payment reports and work with Store Support Centres (SSC) to ensure carrier paymentsEnsure on-time and efficient service to stores (includes follow up action plan for errors made)Ensure inbound loads are being picked up in timely fashion (includes follow up as needed)Troubleshoot transportation issues and concerns by working directly with carriersProvide ongoing support to the Operations and Planning teams (yard management, trailer moves, and cube utilization efficiencies)Analyze and follow up on feedback from customer-focused distribution surveysCreate and utilize backhaul savings by partnering with carriers and vendorsConflict resolution partner for issues with carriers and escalations from driversAct as back up to the Transportation Manager (including carrying a company cell phone and being on call 7 days a week)Exigences du posteThe qualifications we are looking for :Post-secondary education in Transportation or Supply Chain Management (preferred)CITT (CCLP) certification, or working towardsExperience in transportation and/or supply chain at the supervisor levelOral and written communication skills (english).
