The Manager of Import Drayage Operations is accountable for all movement of Canadian Tire’s import traffic through the Canadian gateways processing over 35,000 containers annually.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of International Transportation, this role effectively manages the flow of goods and equipment to and from the port terminals into the CTC Transload facilities.

The position supports CTC’s key business objectives by protecting and improving product flow, controlling costs and maintaining consistent and efficient flow of offshore product through CTC’s largest gateway into North America.

What You’ll Do Effectively manage container and equipment flow originating from the Vancouver Ports in/out of multiple Transload facilities in the region, off dock container return and rail yards.

Develop effective and efficient transportation relationships and networks with the Vancouver Port Terminals, Port Authority, Rail Partners, Road Carriers and service providers to support drayage and Transload operations Identify synergies and continuous improvement opportunities across all import drayage operations including Prince Rupert, Halifax and Montreal.

This includes extending the capabilities and processes enabled in Vancouver operations to all ports of discharge.

Develop operational and tracking tools to manage the Import Drayage Operations and to provide reporting and analytical tools to monitor equipment usage/utilization and cost control for operations Work closely and in conjunction with the International Transportation team to ensure that the priority and sequence of container flow is identified and executed along with daily/weekly communication of work, priorities, issues and resolution Work closely with Customs and Compliance team to ensure compliance with Government regulations.

Represent “Canadian Tire” at industry/stakeholder meetings, initiatives and functions as required.

Manage the Vancouver office staff and take a lead role in developing, motivating, coaching and advising staff on the team Establishing clear team objectives and ensuring that they are achieved by monitoring staff performance and ongoing development Effective negotiation, investigation, interviewing, gaining knowledge and relationship building.

Ensure effective flow of communication between both internal and external partners What You Bring Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Logistics, International Business or Business Administration Minimum 5 to 7 years working in related fields with international supply chain experience Have and/or obtain professional education in international product flow, customs and compliance, freight forwarding and related international transportation designations Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, process thinking, strong presentation and interaction skills, as well as excellent communication skills, both oral and written Strong ability to partner with cross-functional stakeholders to meet objectives Knowledge of Canadian Tire Supply Chain an asset Must be located in the Vancouver area and must be able to travel as required About Canadian Tire CorporationCanadian Tire and its family of companies are boldly shaping retail in Canada and we continue to deliver a positive experience for our customers.
