Job Title:Engineering Services ManagerReporting to:Director of R& DPosition SummaryThe Engineering Services Manager will report to the Director of R& D and manages the support organization for product development and research development.

The Engineering Services Manager will also manage all aspects of Engineering Services group, to include but not limited to, coordination of prototype production activities, engineering test of electromechanical assemblies, and manufacturing development.Key ResponsibilitiesLeads department toward common goals and values in line with the vision of the companySeeks, develops, and promotes a continuous improvement philosophyCoordinate and build high quality engineering and R& D prototypes to prove concept, feasibility and designDevelop and add capabilities and processes/workflows to create a rapid prototyping environment, with ever decreasing lead timesConsolidate various existing labs into a new world class Engineering Services CentreExisting labs in current manufacturing site will move to dedicated new siteTrack, manage, and schedule priorities within a multi-function lab environmentManage Machine Shop, internal test facilities, and external SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and test resourcesDevelop capabilities of additive manufacturingManage capacity of products test lab and develop capabilities of new test requirementsSupervise team of assembly technicians and support DFM (Design for Manufacturing) & SOP (Standard OperatingProcedures) efforts for NPI (New Product Introduction)Participate in regulatory testing and approvals with CSA and ULReport to leadership the utilization, capacity, and KPIs of departmentContribute to product roadmap planning with needed support servicesQualifications and Skills RequiredBachelor of Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or Engineering PhysicsExperience in product design or manufacturing engineering10+ Years of working in manufacturing industry, medium to high volume product manufacturingExperience working in Machine Shop and Test LabKnowledge of materials (plastics, metals, adhesives, etc.) and manufacturing processes (machining, bending, soldering, SMT (Surface Mount Technology), etc.Familiarization with additive manufacturingKnowledge of circuit boards, configuration management, Design for Manufacturing, Design of Experiment, Lean engineering, and Integrated Product development principlesFamiliarization with optics fabrication and assembly would be an assetKnowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resourcesExcellent analytical, problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detailsExcellent communication skills and ability to work as a team playerFlexible and willing to work in very fast-paced environment where tasks and priorities may change oftenProactive, self-starter and safety-consciousExcellent time management skills and commitment to meeting deadlinesThis position comes with an excellent compensation and benefits package.
