Currently serving 150 countries, generating an average of 76 million monthly page views, and achieving high double digit annual growth since inception, SSENSE is becoming a cultural protagonist in its own right.Job DescriptionReporting to the Vice President of Technology, the Director of Application Development will lead a growing team of results-driven Managers, Tech Leads, software and QA Developers, developing and expanding the SSENSE portfolio of applications.

The ideal candidate has the ability to see the big picture from both a technical and business perspective, leadership skills to scale the team, and the foresight to help strategize and drive the team in aligning to corporate objectives.

As a key leader, this role provides the opportunity to make an impact and influence product strategy and direction.ResponsibilitiesManage application development teams from initial inception of ideas to delivery Provide leadership and guidance to hire, coach, motivate, and lead a performance-driven team of highly skilled Tech Leads, software and QA Developers to achieve their full potential Manage headcount, deliverables, and schedules for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines, quality and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational road-mapIdentify best practices that will support the development teams in their effortsAct as the point of contact for various initiatives supporting development (Cloud, DevOps, Performance Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, etc.)Build and reinforce a community through forums and exchanges for ideas and ongoing discussionsImplement a governance or oversight community to share, reinforce, and identify new best practicesImplement an ongoing practice to identify new and emerging tools and technologiesBudget forecasting and accountabilityRequirementsQualificationsBS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalentA minimum of 10 years experience in progressively senior lead technical roles in application development and delivery, or related rolesA minimum of 4 years experience as an established technical leaderProven work experience in an agile environment (XP or Scrum)TECHNOLOGYExperience with applications building using SOA Experience with managing the development of SaaS and cloud-based applicationsExperience in Java and Node.Js application development Good understanding of Web development (MVC, ASP.NET Web API, WCF, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS)Good understanding of relational (MySQL, Postgresql) and NoSQL databasesUnderstanding of Payment processors (Netbanx, Paypal Pro, etc.)Relevant experience with Web services and RESTSkillsStrong leadership, project management, time management, and problem solving skillsSelf-motivated with the ability to work within rigorous deadlinesStrong business acumenTeam player with solid interpersonal skillsGood written and spoken communication skills in both English and French
