Possessing a community-minded outlook and service-first approach, the Manager, Destination Sales & Marketing, supports thegoals of the organization through developing strategies and implementing tactics that increase awareness of Abbotsford and grow incremental revenue for the local tourism industry.As a leader within our forward-looking organization, the Manager will participate in a team environment both within the organization and with external partners such as Destination BC.

The successful candidate will develop and implement both traditional and online marketing tools, creating opportunities for our tourism partners to connect with locals and visitors alike.

The position requires someone with sound marketing and analytic skills, strong stakeholder and supplier relationships, and working knowledge of the travel trade and local tourism industry.Specific Duties & Responsibilities:Provide strategic planning, implementation, budget management, and reporting of integrated marketing campaigns across a variety of marketing channels including both paid and earned media, traditional print advertisements, digital, print and online collateral, content creation and consumer travel shows,Develop and maintain a sports tourism and event acquisition plan in collaboration with community hosting partners and venues,Develops, implements, and monitors all travel trade activities.

Tactics may include product knowledge training, trade show attendance, familiarization tours and itinerary development,Help develop and promote itineraries for attendees to events and potential visitors,Offer support, guidance, and direction for third party bids to host new or incremental business,Actively support and facilitate media relations strategy and personnel,Conduct on-going market research through a variety of methods and provides support to local industry through sharing research data and program outcomes,Provide support to local industry partners with the goal of improving involvement in travel marketing and enhancing the quality of product offerings,Facilitate sector meetings to identify opportunities for collaboration and product development that are in line with the tourism brand,Work with the Marketing Coordinator and Executive Director to plan and host industry education sessions for partners,Lead the preparation of the annual Destination Sales & Marketing Plan in support of the Tourism Abbotsford 5-year strategic plan,Work collaboratively with tourism businesses, local government, Destination BC, and regional DMO’s on the delivery of cooperative marketing programs (Fraser Valley; Circle Farm Tour),Continue to develop and update digital library to be used for marketing collateral and media,Prepare and submit quarterly activity and performance reports to the Executive Director,Attend various public functions and tourism events at the direction of the Executive Director,Seek out grants or other sources of funding to support destination development initiatives,Work with Manager, Visitor Experiences, and the Marketing Coordinator to ensure timely execution of e-newsletters, emails, and online communication.Other Duties:Assist with the research, development and implementation of various projects as directed,Attend internal planning meetings, as requested,Other duties as from time to time required by the Tourism Abbotsford Society.Required Capabilities:Outstanding service skills and a desire to help others…’what’s best for the rest’,Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, can-do attitude,Ability to communicate to various audiences in the most relevant manner,Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders,Creative thinking and problem solving,Ability to make sound decisions and anticipate appropriate timing for communication needs,Self-motivated with consistently good energy.Experience & Qualifications:Tourism, Marketing, or Business certificate, diploma or degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience necessary to accomplish the job duties/responsibilities,Consideration will be given to those with a minimum of 3+ years of tourism marketing experience,Good knowledge about Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley is an asset,Proficiency with Acrobat Pro, HoolaHoop and Simpleview CRM is an asset,Familiarity with web analytics and SEO best practices are an asset,Demonstrated experience creating and managing budgets,Strong digital marketing experience and a solid foundation in marketing strategy including an understanding of core marketing technologies and content management systems,Experience with marketing, advertising, and design in all types of print and electronic mediums,Knowledge of Destination BC’s programs and strategy is an asset,Valid Passport and the ability to travel to the United States and other international destinationsValid BC driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle,The ability to work flexible schedules,The standard hours of work during a week are typically 37.5 hours, though may vary from time to time depending on activities and events happening throughout the city.Application Deadline: Sunday, February 28th, 2021Anticipated Start Date: Tuesday, April 6th, 2021
